Experience the Joy, the Fun, the Magic of Playing Accordion!
The Most Culturally Significant Instrument of our time.. and the Least Understood!
I am often bemused by the comments and reactions I receive when I mention that I play the piano accordion!   The instrument is often considered  "uncool" and  the subject of ridicule and negative comment.  Many classical and contemporary musicians do not consider the accordion to be a "serious" instrument.  True! The accordion has it's roots in folk music and because of it's short existence (less that 200 years), the instrument has struggled somewhat with its identity.   Yet, in its  short lifespan , the accordion enjoys the accolade of being the only instrument to inveigle itself into the music of a diverse range of cultures  worldwide!.  Tango, Zydeco, Tex-Mex, Cajun, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Klezmer, Trot (Korea), Saltarello, Irish Trad, Bal-musette, to name just a few!  Very few instruments offer such a unique opportunity to explore cultural diverity and provide insight and understanding of people and place..  and have fun doing it! The Accordion is  now enjoying a quiet resurgence across the world!
